today as i stepped into this ward, trying to dispense medication to a patient who is getting discharged, i was overwhelmed.
to many people, getting discharged is something to be happy about.
but to the minority, who are being discharged to hospices or nursing homes, it is not. i guess things are worse for hospices.
as i stood there waiting for the patient's husband to be ready, i could feel his love for his wife and his grief from his actions. just simple gestures of touch, simple words of encouragement. and thats all it needed to let a stranger like me experience what he is feeling.
made me wonder what i would do if i were in his shoes.
sigh.
