Cheryl - Dolphin Lover

Sunday, January 18, 2009

became a tourist for two weeks because a Canadian friend, that I got to know in US through Christine, came to Singapore for internship.

and so begins the visiting of the attractions and the revision of my singapore history. =P

went to Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Sentosa, Raffles Hotel, Singapore Art Museum, Dempsey, Geylang, Selegie, etc.

think Christine and I were more of tourists than him. haha.

i) Sentosa

since dolphin lagoon now comes in a package with underwater world, we went to dolphin lagoon! and managed to capture some good pictures of my fav animals! hee. they have improved the up-close contact of the audience with the dolphins ever since i went two years ago with the dutch and romanian students. though it wasn't me who tried. =P

at the travellators.. the sharks kinda disappeared that day. didn't really see any.

don't have to go snorkelling/scuba diving to take a picture with the fishes! =)

wanted to go to fort siloso/images of singapore after that but we went there too late, so no point going in, so we went to the beaches!

think it's like my 1st/2nd time going up that viewing tower at the southernmost point of asia continent, and realised the view of the top of the hanging bridge was just as nice.

jason, christine, liwei and me at the top of the viewing tower. we got the same person to help us take photo like thrice in the same viewing tower. haha

a nice photo with the viewing tower and the hanging bridge.

and we went to catch Songs of the Sea. the musical fountain was really nice, though I would love it if there's more fountain water displays. took a group photo with one of the performers, with the huts in the background.

the pretty colour of the stairs leading to the merlion.

ii) Singapore Art Museum and Raffles Hotel Long Bar

think it was my 2nd time going to the museum ever since primary school. the contemporary art pieces were really cool, though with my lousy art viewing skills, i couldn't really tell what some artists were portraying in their art. =P but some pieces were really cool!

then we proceeded to raffles hotel to try the original Singapore Sling!

raffles hotel has a tradition, whereby you can just eat the peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. so the whole floor is cluttered with the shells. so as you walk anywhere, you just hear "piak piak" sounds. apparently, it's supposed to bring them fortune.

the sacks and sacks of peanuts they had at the bar.

had a mock sling coz didnt really feel well enough to drink that day, but it looks almost similar.

but the original singapore sling was really good. though kinda ex.

hope i can get a chance to go canada in future!
