Caversham Wildlife Park & Swan Valley on 30th May 2008

so we headed to the wildlife park, which was about half an hour away. the weather was so hot as compared to the eastern australian states that I could afford not to wear any jacket, even while I was wearing a tube. but then again, that day was relatively hot. bleah

Caversham Wildlife Farm. reached the farm on time to catch the 1pm farm show. woke up kinda late coz was tired after the grad trip with the girls. oops. walked around a bit and then, went to watch the show.

went to the kangaroo sections. and we could feed kangaroos and go and stroke them. their skin was so soft, amazingly. there was this greedy kangaroo, that just kept eating. and when we stopped feeding it, it went to eat the ones tt ppl dropped on the grass. bez.
an albino kangaroo. i din know that kangaroos can have albinos too.

farm show's starting! so first, they demonstrated on how they use dogs to chase the sheep into the area the shearers intend to keep them. you can see that one sheep has already been sheared. these are all female sheep because they keep the male sheep outside. and apparently, they only have 2 male sheep because each male sheep can have 35 wives! bez.

demonstration of sheep shearing. look at the huge area of wool that came out from the sheep. incredible. marcus got chosen to demonstrate how to swing a billy, which was a tin can filled of water, without any water dripping and he did it! and for me, i got chosen to crack a whip like a cowboy, which explains the cowboy hat on my head. haha. i was kind of scared i will whip myself. lala.

then the small kids got to feed the young goats milk from milk bottles. i also want! boo. but everyone got a chance to milk cows. it was quite fun! coz the milk was so warm. hee.

so after that, walked around the farm section.

the young mares were going around the whole farm area, mingling with the crowd. which was kinda cool. coz they were so tame.

the sheep. the wool has lanolin, which is made into moisturising cream. and its like found everywhere in australia. really popular. touched e wool and felt the rubbery feeling from lanolin.

deer! the one with white spots was so pretty!

taking with the goat was kinda hard. coz i had to bend down, and yet not go too near, coz i was scared of his horns. haha

the llama. according to marcus, its a proud animal. it really struts like it owns the world actually.

wombat. this one looks kinda sleepy. the ranger said it was going to be his bedtime. hee.

other animals we saw: cows, ducks, donkey, parrots, pigs, white peacocks, owls.

more creatures: guinea pigs, dhingos, storks, pink-eared turtle (but not pink), mini crocodiles, pink parrots, echinea, possum.

not forgetting the koala! it was like the last portion of the park, and i looked forward to it. =) i love this pic.

a ranger walked by while he was helping me to take a pic and insisted that we take one together. and insisted that we should juz go closer together. its a nice picture. but the stupid thing is the name of the park is not in e pic. bleah

then we proceeded to Swan Valley to have wine tasting!

Edgecomb bro winery. Marcus brought me there, because his family likes the wines there. and it wasnt too bad. but I kind of preferred the red wine I bought in Hunter Valley. but still bought one bottle of white wine. Chenin Blanc I think. the place was really nice, with the vines and the vineyard. the devonshire tea and scones were not bad. i loved the grapes. but think it wouldnt be as nice if I brought it back to Singapore.
