e truth bout alcohol
had a tutorial on alcohol's effects today..so had to research on alcohol last nite
alot of scary effects other den juz getting into an accident while drinking. basically even if u ar a moderate drinker, drinking only mini amts, it would affect your hormonal system. if you are persistent in drinking for long periods of time, it would lead to disruption in your central nervous system, cardiac system and even reproductive system la. not juz liver failure. so lesson learnt: dun drink so much..
according to e tutor, e acceptable amt for drinking and driving is 80mg/dL. equivalent to 2 cans of beer, or 2 glasses of wine, or 2 glasses of hard liquor. tink tt's still too much for me. haha
oh, and i finally found out e reason why i always get red while drinking! haha.
not coz u have a good circulatory system or u are a good drinker! totally wrong!!!!
its coz the alcohol is metabolised to aldehyde, and due to some genetic reason, the aldehyde is slowly metabolised to acid in the body then excreted. in a gd drinker , usually alcohol and aldehydes are fast metabolised, so you won't get red so easily. so due to the slow metabolism of aldehydes, there is a buildup of aldehydes leading to flushing, fast heartbeat or sweating.
quite cool to find out e reason y i turn red so easily...
1st time i had a lesson in NUH too. walk damn far and e tutorial room was super ulu, in the pathology museum of NUH when all the specimens were not ard. muz have been moved to NUS medicine dept. haha.
time to study hard! got 2 tests and 1 indiv assignment due nt wk. 2 tests, 3 lab reports e following wk.
die. tis is even worse than exams.
